The Senate consists of 91 members, and elections are held for 49 seats. The previous Senate’s term expires in October 2024. The central government attempted to cancel election process, but later withdrew its decision. According to the election schedule, election date for constituency of Principals of Technical and Professional Colleges and Employees of Such Colleges is September 7th, with results declared on September 9th.

Senate Election 2026 Schedule

Elections for professors in teaching departments will be held on September 14th, with results declared on September 16th. Elections for associate and assistant professors in university teaching departments will be held on September 14th, with results declared on September 16th. Elections for heads of affiliated arts colleges, assistant, associate, and full professors of affiliated arts colleges, and registered graduates will be held on September 20th, with results declared on September 22nd. Elections for university faculties will be held on October 4th, with results declared on October 4th.
