My Kitchen Scheme: Objective of the “Meri Rasoi” scheme

Announcing the scheme, the Chief Minister stated that his government is committed to implementing public welfare schemes with integrity and foresight. He stated that ensuring every child receives nutritious food is not just a promise, but a moral responsibility of the government. The government believes that food and nutrition security are the foundation of a strong society. The “Meri Rasoi” scheme is being launched with this vision.
Punjab News: 40 Lakh Families to Benefit
Under this scheme, approximately 40 lakh needy families will receive free food kits. This distribution will be done once every three months, meaning families will receive this assistance four times a year. The Chief Minister stated that this scheme will bring relief to families struggling to meet their daily needs. The government’s goal is to ensure that no family in the state faces food shortages.
What will be included in the food kit?

Each food kit includes essential items based on a family’s monthly needs. The kit will contain the following items:
- 2 kg lentils
- 2 kg sugar
- 1 kg salt
- 200 grams of turmeric powder
- 1 liter mustard oil
All these items will be provided free of charge and will be separate from the wheat they already receive. This will provide additional financial relief to families and improve the quality of their food.
Responsibility and Arrangements for Distribution
The Chief Minister informed that Markfed has been designated as the nodal agency for implementing this scheme. Markfed will oversee the entire distribution process. The Food and Civil Supplies Department will supply these kits. The government has also ensured that the distribution process is transparent and systematic. A robust mechanism has been put in place to ensure that there are no irregularities or delays.
Special Attention to Quality

The Chief Minister categorically stated that there will be no compromise on the quality of all items included in the kits. The government has instituted strict quality checks. If there are any complaints of substandard goods or irregular supply, strict action will be taken. He assured that only high-quality food items will reach the public.
Punjab’s Heritage and Government’s Commitment
Referring to Punjab’s historical role, the Chief Minister said that the state’s farmers have played a significant role in making the country self-sufficient in grain production. Punjab has always played a leading role in feeding the nation. He said that even today, some families in the state are struggling with financial difficulties. The government has launched this new initiative to help them. This scheme was not part of the party’s manifesto, yet it is being implemented in the public interest,

as it is the government’s moral responsibility.
Children and families will benefit directly
The “Meri Rasoi” scheme will particularly benefit children. Providing nutritious food will improve their health and development, while also reducing the financial burden on families. The government believes that when families are no longer worried about basic food items, they will be able to focus more on other important areas such as education, health, and employment.
Distribution to begin in April
The Chief Minister announced that distribution under this scheme will begin in April. After this, kits will be distributed regularly every quarter. The government also assured that the upcoming public-friendly budget will introduce more welfare schemes for every section of society.
