Punjab Industry News: Punjab’s Minister for Industry and Commerce, Investment Promotion, and Power, Mr. Sanjeev Arora, held an important meeting with prominent industrialist and Chairman of JSW Group, Sajjan Jindal, in Mumbai today. Amit Dhaka, CEO of Punjab Invest, was also present.

Sajjan Jindal pledges ₹1,500 crore for Rajpura steel sector; Punjab touts industry-friendly environment

During the meeting, Sajjan Jindal announced an investment of ₹1,500 crore in the steel sector in Rajpura. He also stated that the JSW Group will explore additional investment opportunities across its diverse business sectors in Punjab. The proposed investment will strengthen the state’s manufacturing base, deepen the steel value chain, and create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities in the sector.

Jindal also confirmed his presence at the inaugural session of the Invest Punjab Summit, to be held at Plaksha University on March 13th. He commended the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, for developing an industry-friendly environment and proactive industrial outreach efforts.

Punjab outlines new industrial policy to boost next-gen manufacturing, tech investments, and job creation

Minister Sanjeev Arora, highlighting Punjab’s strong industrial foundation, said the state boasts excellent connectivity to northern markets, a robust MSME ecosystem, skilled human resources, and developed industrial clusters in sectors such as steel, auto components, textiles, sports goods, food processing, and light engineering. He also noted Punjab’s consistent recognition as a “Top Achiever” in the “Ease of Doing Business” reforms and the progressive single-window clearance system for timely approvals.

Minister informed that the Punjab Government is in advanced stages of finalising a new, robust, and forward-looking industrial policy aimed at encouraging next-generation manufacturing and technology-based investments. This policy will focus on competitive financial incentives, plug-and-play industrial infrastructure, sector-specific parks, accelerated approvals, improved logistics efficiency, and strong policy support for emerging sectors such as defence manufacturing, electric mobility, advanced materials, renewable energy, and high-end engineering. Special emphasis will be placed on promoting value-added manufacturing, increasing exports, and creating large-scale employment for Punjab’s youth.

Jindal praises Punjab’s investor-friendly policies; Arora assures full support for JSW projects

Appreciating the Punjab government’s proactive and industry-friendly policies, Jindal commended Minister Sanjeev Arora’s continued efforts to attract new investments to the state and acknowledged his commitment to ensuring a stable and conducive business environment. He expressed keen interest in exploring opportunities in defence manufacturing, the automobile sector, and renewable energy projects.

Minister Sanjeev Arora reiterated the government’s commitment to industry and assured all possible support, guidance, and prompt approvals for the proposed JSW projects. He stated that Punjab is committed to providing reliable power supply, robust logistics infrastructure, and a responsive administrative structure for the establishment and expansion of industries.
