PM Modi Bengal Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the minority-dominated Malda district of West Bengal today on Saturday. He will participate in a total of three programs here. Two of these will be government programs, while one will also be a political rally. This political rally will be organized as the last program of the day. Preparations are in full swing in Malda for the Prime Minister’s visit. Political experts say that this visit is very important not only from the point of view of government work, but also from the political point of view. The reason is that assembly elections are going to be held in West Bengal at the end of this year, hence this visit of the Prime Minister is considered special.
PM Modi Bengal Visit: PM Modi on Assam tour on January 17–18
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on a two-day visit on Saturday and Sunday (January 17 and 18), during which he will participate in major cultural and development programmes in the state. On Saturday, at around 6 pm, the Prime Minister will attend a grand traditional Bodo cultural programme at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. The highlight of the evening will be ‘Bagurumba Dohou 2026’, a historic cultural event celebrating the rich heritage of the Bodo community.
PM Modi Bengal Visit: 10,000 artists from 23 districts will create history
During this event, over 10,000 artists from the Bodo community will perform the Bagurumba dance in unison, in unison. Artists representing 81 assembly constituencies across 23 districts of Assam are expected to participate, making it the largest cultural performance of its kind in the state. Bagurumba, one of the most famous folk dances of the Bodo community, is heavily inspired by nature.

Traditionally performed by young women, accompanied by male musicians, the dance symbolizes blooming flowers and the harmony between human life and the natural world. Its gentle, flowing movements mimic butterflies, birds, leaves, and flowers, and it has deep cultural significance, representing peace, fertility, joy, and collective harmony. The dance is associated with festivals such as Bisagu and Domasi, the Bodo New Year.
PM Modi to perform the ceremony of the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor
On Sunday, around 11 am, the Prime Minister will visit Kaliabor, where he will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project, an ambitious infrastructure initiative worth over ₹6,950 crore. The 86-km project, officially called the four-laning of the Kaliabor-Numaligarh section of NH-715, is designed as an environmentally sensitive national highway project. It includes a 35-km elevated wildlife corridor passing through Kaziranga National Park, as well as a 21-km bypass and 30-km widening of the existing highway.
PM Modi will flag off two Amrit Bharat Expresses
The project will improve connectivity in Nagaon, Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts, as well as ensure seamless movement of wildlife and reduce human-animal conflict. During the event, the Prime Minister will also flag off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains – Guwahati (Kamakhya) – Rohtak and Dibrugarh – Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) services, strengthening rail connectivity between Northeast and North India.
PM Modi’s Bengal visit: PM Modi’s Taherpur visit was cancelled due to fog
It should be recalled that on December 20th, the Prime Minister held a scheduled public meeting in Taherpur, Nadia district. He flew to Taherpur by helicopter from Kolkata airport. However, due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, his helicopter was unable to land in Taherpur. After returning to the airport, he addressed the people in Taherpur via audio bridge call. In that speech, he promised to visit West Bengal again soon.
