Lakhimpur Kheri Bus Accident: In Lakhimpur, a speeding truck crushed three girl students riding a scooter. All three died on the spot. The accident was so horrific that bodies of two students were stuck to the road. While body of the third girl student got stuck in wheel due to collision with the truck and then got thrown 50 meters away.
While returning from college, the truck overtook a tractor-trolley and crushed them from the front. After this collision, truck driver abandoned vehicle and fled. The girl students who died in the accident were identified as Sahiba (19), Khadija (13) and Diksha (21). Accident took place on Saturday afternoon on the Gola-Khutar National Highway near Hyderabad police station.

Three female students from Bilhari village died in a road accident on the Gola-Khutar National Highway on Saturday afternoon. Following this, Bhaskar’s team visited the student’s homes and spoke with residents. The first person we met in Bilhari village was Mohammad Yunus.
Mohammad Yunus, a resident of Makara village, explained that he had sent his daughter, Khadija, to her aunt’s house a week ago. His aunt was feeling uneasy without her, so she went to Sansarpur for picking her up on Saturday without informing him.
Upon receiving news of the accident, he learned that both his daughter and sister had died. Yunus said that his father had passed away just three months ago, and deaths of his daughter and sister have shaken entire foundation of his family.

On Sunday, the funeral processions of the three students were taken out together, casting a pall of gloom over the entire village. Sahiba, her niece Khadija, and Diksha were cremated amid a solemn atmosphere. Following the funeral, Dainik Bhaskar’s team arrived at Bilhari village, where both families were met with a deep silence and weeping women.
Sahiba was a bright student, dreamed of becoming doctor
Sahiba’s family said that death had occurred in the family three months earlier, and Sahiba’s passing has now left her mother in deep shock. Sahiba’s brother says that she and her friend Diksha used to go to school on a bicycle. After Dhanteras, Sahiba expressed her desire for a scooter, which was arranged by her family. She was a first-year BA student and a bright student. The family also showed room where Sahiba and Khadija used to study.
Mother said, with trembling voice, “My husband went before, today my daughter and granddaughter followed.”

Sahiba’s mother couldn’t control herself during the conversation. She explained that her wish was for her daughter to become a doctor. Crying, she said, “Allah first took my husband, now he’s taken my daughter and granddaughter. What mistake did I commit?”
Diksha used to travel college every day by bicycle
Mourning also spread at Diksha’s home. Her mother lay on a cot in shock. Diksha’s father, Safiullah, said that on the day of the accident, he had asked his daughter to go by bicycle, but she said she had to submit a form and would return quickly with Sahiba on her scooter. When they received the news of her death from the hospital in the afternoon, their world was shattered. Diksha used to go to college daily by bicycle.
Village head and former MLA offered condolences
Following the incident, Ajmaluddin, village head of Bilhari Gram Panchayat, said, “he would provide all possible assistance to the victim’s family. Vinay Tiwari, the former MLA from Gola, also visited village and met with the family to offer condolences.”
