IPS Officer Suicide Case: Following the suicide of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Singh, a series of political leaders have continued to visit his home, prompting tight security measures. A heavy police presence has been deployed in the area, and one side of the road has been closed to the public. The Haryana government has issued a statewide alert to ensure law and order while maintaining communal harmony and has directed all field officers and staff to be fully prepared for any eventuality.
Chandigarh Security Heightened: Heavy police force deployed
The General Administration Department (Political Branch), on behalf of the Chief Secretary, issued instructions to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), the Haryana DGP, and all Police Commissioners, IGPs, and DCs/SPs of all districts to comply with these directives. This directive comes in the wake of protests across the state demanding an investigation into the case.
Rahul Gandhi Meets Family: Will express condolences
Amid tight security, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will arrive in Chandigarh to meet the family of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Singh at his residence and offer condolences. Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan has also arrived at Kumar’s residence.
IPS Officer Suicide Case
IPS officer Y. Puran Singh allegedly committed suicide on October 7. His wife, senior IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, urged Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to intervene and file an FIR and suspend and arrest those named in the note by her husband. Haryana DGP Shatrughan Kapoor was sent on leave in connection with the case.
