Historic Mega PTM in Punjab: The image and future of government schools in Punjab are undergoing a remarkable transformation. The clearest evidence of this change is the historic participation of over 2.3 million parents who visited schools to discuss their children’s future. This was far more than a routine Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM); it was a powerful demonstration of trust, engagement, and progress in Punjab’s education system.
Historic Mega PTM in Punjab: Education as a People’s Movement
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has turned education from a mere government scheme into a people’s movement. The fourth mega PTM highlighted how parents, teachers, and school management are coming together, signaling a complete shift in the public perception of government schools.
Held across more than 7,500 government schools, the mega PTM allowed parents to openly interact with teachers, discussing their children’s academics, behavior, and future plans. Many parents admitted that they previously avoided government schools but now recognize them as institutions that provide quality education, a safe environment, and confidence-building opportunities for their children.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains personally led this initiative, emphasizing that the PTM is not just a meeting, but a concrete effort to actively involve parents in shaping their children’s education. Over 40,000 teachers received special training to ensure interactions were positive, respectful, and solution-oriented.
The participation of AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia further strengthened the program. He noted that parental trust and engagement in government schools is the greatest achievement any government can attain.

This PTM addressed not only academics but also the mental, emotional, and social development of children. Teachers and parents collaborated to create a supportive environment, with many parents acknowledging the dedication of teachers and recognizing that today’s government schools often rival, or even surpass, private schools.
The presence of 2.3 million parents reflects the growing confidence of Punjab’s citizens in government schools. Improvements in education quality, infrastructure, teacher dedication, and government commitment are visible across the state.
This mega PTM is not a one-day event—it is a testament to the trust and transformation that the AAP government has brought to Punjab’s education system. It proves that when the government works sincerely on education, the public not only notices but actively participates in shaping the future of the next generation.
