Haryana News: Aam Aadmi Party’s National Media In-charge, Anurag Dhanda, said that farmers in Haryana are currently facing a double whammy. On one hand, they are suffering the painful blow of natural calamities, and on the other, they are facing government negligence. He alleged that the 2025 floods destroyed the crops of millions of farmers, but the BJP government in Haryana has failed to provide adequate relief or release compensation promptly.
Haryana News: 31 Lakh acres of crops destroyed, but no relief
Anurag Dhanda stated that this year’s devastating floods destroyed approximately 31 lakh acres of crops belonging to 5.37 lakh farmers. The farmers had hoped that government would support them during this difficult time, but reality has been quite opposite. According to him, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s government has neither conducted any concrete ground-level surveys nor provided any relief to the farmers. He said that government is merely making a show of opening portals, while the actual damage reports from fields are incomplete.
Haryana News Today: Promise of compensation remains unfulfilled
Dhanda stated that the BJP government had promised to provide compensation to farmers by November 30th; however, December has already begun, and not a single rupee has been deposited into the farmers’ accounts yet. He informed that the land survey (Girdaawari) is incomplete in 8 districts, and files worth Rs. 50-60 crore are pending in Fatehabad district. This situation raises questions about the government’s intentions and feels like a betrayal of the farmers.
Need to Learn from Punjab: AAP
Comparing the Haryana government with Punjab government, Anurag Dhanda said that if the intentions are clear, relief can be provided on time. He stated that AAP government in Punjab provided compensation of Rs. 20,000 per acre directly to the bank accounts of flood-affected farmers in just 30 days. This relief was provided in 2,508 villages and covered an area of 3.5 lakh acres. In contrast, farmers in Haryana are still running around to government offices. Rs 15,000 per acre compensation is called a joke
Dhanda said that Rs 15,000 per acre compensation announced by the Haryana government is a joke on the farmers, as actual losses are many times higher. He alleged that the Chief Minister is busy with other things instead of understanding plight of the farmers, and this insensitivity is increasing farmers’ troubles.
Farmers are troubled by black marketing of fertilisers
He also said that after being repeatedly cheated on MSP, the black marketing of fertilisers has now broken farmers’ backs. A bag of fertiliser that costs Rs 1,350 is being sold for Rs 2,000, but government is not taking any action. The farmers are asking, is simply opening a portal considered providing relief? Will the flood relief amount ever reach the farmers, or will it remain stuck in files?
The government lacks intent, policy, and leadership
Anurag Dhanda said that reason for the miserable condition of farmers in Haryana is weakness of the government’s policies, lack of willpower, and failure of leadership. He suggested that if Haryana government does not understand how to help farmers during times of crisis, it should learn from the AAP government in Punjab.
