Haryana News: A serious debate has erupted in Haryana regarding the drug situation. From villages to cities, there is a growing discussion that drugs are no longer being sold secretly but openly. Reports of the increasing use of dangerous drugs like injections and “chitta,” especially among youth, are emerging. This raises the pressing question: who is responsible for this, and who will take concrete steps to curb it?
Public concern about the drug problem is evident in many areas of Haryana. Parents are fearful for their children. Unemployment and bad company in villages are leading many young people into drug addiction. Local allegations are also being made that strict action is not being taken against drug dealers, emboldening them.
Haryana News: Policeman’s post creates uproar
Meanwhile, a social media post by Haryana police officer Sunil Sandhu further escalated the situation. He claimed that he was taking action against drug abuse, but was being pressured. They allege that some senior officers are asking them to release smugglers and threatening action if they refuse.
If a police officer, who is responsible for enforcing the law, feels unsafe, it is not just a personal matter. It raises questions about the entire administrative structure. Such allegations require an impartial investigation to uncover the truth.
Opposition Attacks the Government
Aam Aadmi Party’s national media in-charge, Anurag Dhanda, has targeted the Haryana government and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on this issue. He says that since the strict campaign against drugs began in Punjab, smugglers have made Haryana a new base. He alleged that if an honest officer takes action against drugs, he or she is not protected. The opposition says that the government should take strict action in such cases and take immediate action against the guilty officers.
Referring to the Punjab Model
The Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab claimed to launch a campaign against drugs after 2022. There have been reports of arrests of major suppliers and the seizure of their properties. The Aam Aadmi Party cites this as an example of its government’s strong will. Based on this, the opposition is demanding similar action in Haryana. They argue that if strictness can be applied in a neighbouring state, why not in Haryana?
Political Allegations vs. Ground Reality
However, the issue of drug abuse should not be limited to politics. It is a question of society and its future. Every parent wants their children to be safe and have employment opportunities. People in villages and towns want young people to have work, not drugs. The government and administration have a responsibility to develop a concrete strategy to dismantle the drug network. Furthermore, if a police officer has made serious allegations, they should be investigated impartially to uncover the truth.
The Way Forward
To tackle the drug problem, mere rhetoric will not suffice. Strict laws, transparent investigations, and employment opportunities for youth are essential. Society, government, and administration must jointly address this challenge. Today, the need is to rise above accusations and counter-accusations and take concrete action. Because addiction recognises no party or ideology, but the right policies and strong determination can certainly bring about change. All eyes are now on the Haryana government to see what steps it takes to secure the future of the youth.
