Haryana Budget 2026-27: Anurag Dhanda, National Media In-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party, has strongly criticised the 2026-27 Budget presented by the Haryana government. He stated that this budget is not a document that charts the course of the state’s development, but rather a story of debt and unfulfilled promises. According to him, there is a significant discrepancy between the government’s claims and the ground reality, leaving the public feeling cheated. Anurag Dhanda stated that the government is attempting to portray the state’s economic situation as better, while the reality is worrisome.
He claimed that Haryana is being shown to have a debt burden of over ₹3.5 lakh crore, but the actual financial burden has reached nearly ₹5 lakh crore. He also stated that approximately 34 percent of the government’s total income will come from borrowing. Furthermore, approximately 30 percent of the budget, or approximately ₹67,000 crore, will be spent on repaying old debt instalments. According to him, this situation reflects a system running on debt, not development.

Haryana Budget 2026-27: Questions on promises made to women
The AAP leader also targeted the government regarding election promises made to women. He said that before the 2024 assembly elections, the BJP had promised to provide every woman with an unconditional monthly allowance of ₹2,100. However, the budget has allocated only ₹6,500 crore for the Lado Laxmi Yojana, which is significantly less than the promised amount. According to Dhanda, if approximately 1 crore women are given ₹2,100 per month, approximately ₹22,000 crore would be required annually. The current budget clearly shows that the government does not have sufficient resources to fully implement this scheme. He said that currently only about 9 lakh women are receiving its benefits.
Anurag Dhanda News: Concerns about the education system
Anurag Dhanda also raised serious questions about the education sector. He said that according to the National Education Policy, at least 6 percent of the budget should be spent on education, but the Haryana government has allocated only 1.9 percent of the budget for education. He pointed out that 15,451 teaching positions are vacant in government schools, while more than 2,400 teaching and non-teaching positions are vacant in colleges. He said that the shortage of teachers is affecting students’ education and jeopardising the future of youth.
Questions on the State of Health Services
He also questioned the government’s priorities regarding the health sector. According to the National Health Policy, states should spend at least 8 percent of their budget on health, but in Haryana, only 6.02 percent has been allocated. Dhanda said that there is a shortage of doctors and medicines in hospitals, and the condition of rural health centres is not satisfactory. He also mentioned the incomplete construction of Rewari AIIMS, the condition of Gurugram Civil Hospital, and the problems at Rohtak PGI, Khanpur, and Kalpana Chawla Medical College.
Accusations of misleading the public
Finally, Anurag Dhanda said that this budget is an attempt to showcase achievements through statistics rather than addressing public needs. He alleged that the government is taking loans to promote schemes, while problems on the ground remain unresolved. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party will continue to raise public issues and work to strongly bring the voice of the people of Haryana to the forefront.
