This grand event was organised by the Shri Veer Mandhata Koli Samaj Sangathan. This organisation has been arranging marriages for needy and orphaned daughters for the past 12 years. More than 2,000 daughters have been married through this initiative so far. A mass wedding of 501 couples was also organised once before. Such events strengthen the spirit of cooperation and solidarity in society.
Arvind Kejriwal News: Major relief for economically weaker families
Gujarat has a large population of the Koli community, primarily engaged in farming, fishing, and labour. Due to poor financial circumstances, many families find it difficult to afford weddings. People are often forced to take out loans or sell their land and jewellery. In such circumstances, mass wedding ceremonies prove to be a great help to poor families. Here, daughters are married with dignity, without unnecessary expenditure or ostentation. This reduces the financial burden on families and frees them from the debt trap.

At the event, Arvind Kejriwal refrained from any political talk. He appealed for an end to social evils and ostentation. He stated that daughters are the pride of every family, and their happiness is paramount. He also emphasised the importance of education and good opportunities.
