Goa News: A significant step forward in the field of education was taken at Our Lady of Patrocinio Community Centre in Benaulim, Goa. A modern e-library was inaugurated for students. It aims to provide better and modern educational resources to Goa’s students.

The new e-library offers over 10,000 e-books. Video lectures, simulations, and practice materials have also been created for students of different classes. This facility is not limited to general studies but is also very useful for students preparing for competitive exams.

Online tests and practice modules are available for over 40 competitive exams, including JEE, NEET, and CLAT. Most importantly, this entire facility is free. This will allow children from economically disadvantaged families to access the same resources as students in expensive private schools.

Challenges in Goa’s Education System

The current state of education in Goa raises many questions. According to statistics, the number of government schools in the state has declined from 906 to 789. Of the approximately 1,487 schools, 238 are responsible for the entire school with only one teacher. These figures clearly indicate that many schools are struggling with a lack of resources and teachers. In such a situation, initiatives like e-libraries can provide additional support to students. Through digital media, students can access better content, which can improve their learning.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Education Model

Aam Aadmi Party’s education policy model was first implemented in Delhi. It was subsequently expanded in Punjab. Today, nearly 90 percent of government schools in Punjab have smart classroom facilities. Punjab performed well in the National Achievement Survey, securing the top spot. The state government has taken several steps to improve the quality of education.

Training for 234 principals and education officers was conducted in Singapore. 216 primary teachers were sent to the University of Turku in Finland, while 199 headmasters were trained at IIM Ahmedabad. Furthermore, 1,908 campus managers and 1,316 security guards were appointed for better school management. These efforts have created a more secure and organised school environment.

Vision of Prioritising Education

The primary goal of the Aam Aadmi Party’s policy is to bring government schools on par with private schools. The party believes that children from the poor and middle classes should also receive high-quality education. When children receive a better education, they will be able to access good jobs and better opportunities in the future. Education is not just a means to obtain a degree, but a path to a better life. If government schools are strengthened, every section of society will be able to progress.

Initiatives for Change Even Without Power

The Aam Aadmi Party is not currently in power in Goa, yet its public representatives are working in the field of education. The launch of the e-library demonstrates that positive change can be initiated even without power, if there is willpower. The enthusiasm of students and parents at the inauguration ceremony was remarkable. People believe that prioritising education is essential for social development.

Future Direction

This e-library, launched in Goa, is not limited to digital books; it symbolises a new way of thinking. Its message is clear: quality education is every child’s right. If such initiatives continue to thrive, even government schools can become centres of excellent education. The right policies and concerted efforts can bring about a profound change in the field of education.
