Delhi Work From Home Rule: In the wake of the alarming levels of pollution in the national capital, the Rekha Gupta govt has ordered 50% Work From Home for all govt and private offices. The announcement was made by the Delhi Labour Department on Tuesday. A compensation of Rs. 10,000 has also been announced for the workers working on the construction sites amid the implementation of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) implementation in the national capital. However, health, police, public transport, electricity, and other essential services have been exempted from this rule.

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra stated, ” “All private offices operating within NCT Delhi shall function with no more than 50% of their staff attending the workplace, while the remaining staff must work from home. This guideline is issued by the Labour Department. Along with mandating 50% attendance, offices are also encouraged to adopt flexible working hours. It is not necessary for all staff to arrive and leave at the same time, timings should be staggered. For example, if a group is called at 10 AM and everyone is coming from the same location to the same destination, they should return in a staggered manner. These guidelines are being issued to ensure smooth implementation…”

The Delhi Govt has also directed schools and colleges to continue hybrid mode of teaching, with both online as well as offline classes, upto classes 9 and 11. Students of classes 10 and 12 have not been included under this new rule.

The National Capital saw some of the worst air pollution this season on December 14. In the evening, the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 441, which falls in the severe category. By midnight, the situation became even worse as the AQI rose to 460, crossing into the severe plus level.

Meanwhile, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced new rules for vehicles entering Delhi. Only BS-VI vehicles from outside the city will be allowed, and vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate will be denied fuel. Sirsa said, “After tomorrow, vehicles that do not have a valid PUC certificate will not be provided fuel.” Strict checks will be in place at city entry points and petrol stations.
