Major accident has emerged in Delhi’s Rohini area on Friday night, November 7th. Where a massive fire broke out in a slum near the Rithala Metro Station. The blaze was so intense that the entire slum was engulfed in flames. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received a call about the fire at around 10:56 pm, after which fire teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.

According to the reports the incident was so severe that, 15 fire engines were initially dispatched, but later a total of 29 fire tenders and several other units were called to the scene. This included 7 water tenders, 12 bowsers, and 2 robotic fire units. Senior DFS officer S.K. Dua and a DCFO-level officer were also present at the scene. The fire was brought under control after approximately an hour of intense effort.
Rithala Metro Station News: Cylinder explosion fuels fire
Initial investigations have revealed that LPG gas cylinders stored in the slums began exploding one by one, further fuelling the fire. The sound of the cylinders exploding was heard far and wide, and people rushed out of their homes in panic. The fire was so intense that people ran around to save their children and belongings, but most of the huts were completely destroyed.
Fire News Today: About Casualties and Injuries

One person has died in the fire, while a child has suffered severe burns. The injured child was immediately admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. No other casualties have been reported yet.
Relief and Rescue Operations
The fire department and police quickly launched relief operations. Along with extinguishing the fire, the police evacuated the residents of the slum to safety. However, approximately 400 to 500 huts were completely destroyed in the fire. According to Fire Officer S.K. Dua, the exact cause of the fire is being investigated. However, a short circuit or cylinder leak is primarily suspected. The fire department is preparing a detailed report on the entire incident.
Slum Resident’s Problems and Appeal to the Government
After this accident, everything for the slum residents was converted to ashes. Those who already had limited resources are now completely homeless. People were forced to spend the night under the open sky. This increasing cold weather has also posed a great challenge for them. The affected families have demanded immediate assistance and housing arrangements from the Delhi government.
