Delhi News Today: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded that the entire proceedings of National Convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s appearance before the Privileges Committee of the Delhi Assembly be broadcast live to maintain transparency. AAP’s Delhi State President, Saurabh Bhardwaj, stated that the Assembly’s Privileges Committee should broadcast its proceedings live and invite journalists. “We have run the committee for many years and have conducted it live for transparency, and have also invited journalists to report the truth. The BJP has set a new precedent by summoning a former Chief Minister to the committee. This will have far-reaching consequences for national politics,” he said.

Saurabh Bhardwaj stated, “Reports are coming in that the Delhi Assembly’s Privileges Committee has summoned the former Chief Minister to the committee to discuss the issue of why the gallows were built and why the Delhi Assembly built it. He stated that numerous legislative assemblies have been formed in every state and will continue to be formed. Parliament also has committees and will always have them. However, the BJP’s new precedent of summoning a former Chief Minister to the committee will have far-reaching consequences for national politics.” Speaker Vijender Gupta and the BJP government in Delhi don’t seem to understand this.

Delhi Today News: Appeal for transparency in committees

Saurabh Bhardwaj further stated that the Assembly committees are known for their transparency. The Aam Aadmi Party has run more committees than the BJP, and we have much more experience with these committees than the BJP. Whenever there was an important issue or a request from the person being called, we live-streamed the proceedings and invited journalists inside the committee. Journalists were also told to accurately report what was happening in the committee. We want reporting and have never tried to hide anything.

Arvind Kejriwal News: Live Streaming

Saurabh Bhardwaj said that if former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is asking for live streaming of this committee, the Assembly Speaker should have no objection to it. The Speaker should come before the media and explain whether he is live-streaming or not. If they are not doing live streaming, then explain the reason as to what is it that they are trying to hide by avoiding live streaming it or by avoiding calling journalists to that committee.
