Delhi News: Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, along with Lieutenant Governor Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu, conducted an inspection of the Yamuna stretch at Vasudev Ghat and Yamuna Bazar Ghat, reviewing ongoing cleanliness, infrastructure, and rejuvenation works. Emphasising timely execution and quality, they directed an acceleration of desilting activities and ensured that pre-monsoon preparations stay on schedule. The Delhi Government is employing real-time monitoring, accountability measures, and strict execution standards to transform the Yamuna into a cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant river for the city.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accompanied by the state’s Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu, visited Vasudev Ghat and Yamuna Bazar Ghat on Wednesday. During this visit, she reviewed the sanitation arrangements, basic amenities, and the ongoing works related to the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River. The Chief Minister stated that the promise made to the public regarding a clean Yamuna is now being fulfilled with great momentum.

During the visit, the Chief Minister issued clear directives to the concerned officials, emphasising that all projects must be completed within the stipulated deadlines. She specifically stressed the need to accelerate the desisting operations in the Yamuna River. She asserted that this task must be executed in a “mission mode” to ensure that all necessary preparations are completed before the onset of the monsoon season. She further warned that no form of negligence would be tolerated and that there could be no compromise regarding the quality of the work. Officials were also instructed to conduct regular monitoring and submit progress reports.

Cleaning the Yamuna: A Government Priority

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta remarked that the Yamuna is not merely a river, but a vital part of Delhi’s spiritual faith and cultural heritage. Therefore, it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that its ghats (riverbanks) remain clean, safe, and well-organised. She highlighted that the government is working with unwavering commitment in this direction, and the resolve to clean the Yamuna is now visibly taking shape on the ground. Special attention is also being paid to enhancing cleanliness, greenery, and amenities in the vicinity of the ghats, with the aim of providing the public with a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Prior Key Meeting Held

Earlier, on Monday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had also met with Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu. During this meeting, discussions were held regarding the Delhi government’s preparedness in view of the upcoming summer season. The Chief Minister informed that the meeting involved detailed deliberations on critical issues such as water supply, power infrastructure, healthcare services, and disaster management. Her objective is to ensure that the residents of Delhi do not face any hardships during the summer months.

Emphasis on Providing Better Amenities to the Public

The Chief Minister further affirmed that the Delhi government is actively working to deliver superior services across all sectors. Whether it concerns the availability of clean water, an uninterrupted power supply, or healthcare services every department has been placed on alert mode. He gave assurances that the government is fully prepared and that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that citizens receive smooth and improved services. The cleaning of the Yamuna and the development of the ghats are considered significant steps in this direction.
