Alarming Rise in Delhi Missing Persons Cases: Reach 800 in first 15 days of 2026

Delhi Missing People 2026: Police officials have recorded that 500 women and girls went missing in Delhi during the period of first 15 days of January 2026. According to the data, strength of women and girls accounted for nearly two-thirds of all missing cases in the period. Out of 807 people were reported to be missing between January 1 and 15, 509 were women and girls, while 298 were men. On an average, around 54 individuals were reported to be missing each day. Police data shows, till now, 235 of the missing people have been traced leaving 572 of them still unaccounted.

191 Minors were represented of the total missing cases, raising a serious question on the child safety, According to news reports, Girls and women lie of the majority with 146 reported missing as compared to 45 boys. Teenagers accounted for most of these cases, with 169 adolescents—138 girls and 31 boys—going missing during the period. according to the police data, nearly 71 percent of these teenagers case remain unresolved.

Children between age of 8-12, 13 went missing, including eight boys and five girls, while nine children under age of eight were also reported to be missing. According to various reports, only six children from these younger age groups have been traced till now.

This trend extends beyond 2026, In 2025, a total of 24,508 persons were reported to be missing persons cases. Women made up over 60 percent of these total cases, with 14,870 cases. The highest number of missing women recorded in a single year. Men accounted for 9,638 cases. While police were able to locate 15, 421 individuals and 9,087 cases remains unresolved.
