Delhi Dwarka Hit and Run Case Update: A new update has emerged in the Delhi Dwarka hit and run case, where Father of teen who drove SUV that struck a 23-year-old biker in Dwarka, Delhi on February 3, admitted his apologies for the incident and said “family is deeply shaken by what happened”. The accused’s father stated that his family is deeply saddened by Sahil’s death and will fully cooperate with the legal process. He also acknowledged that his son was at fault in the incident.

It should be noted that 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra died in a road accident in Dwarka, Delhi. The accident occurred on February 3rd near Lal Bahadur Shastri College in Dwarka South, when a car driven by a minor without a license hit Sahil’s bike and then collided with a parked vehicle. Police received a PCR call at 11:57 am, following which an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The minor accused was taken into custody and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, where he was granted interim bail on February 10th due to his Class 10 board exams. Police have seized and examined all three vehicles and collected CCTV footage from the area. The investigation is ongoing.

Accused Father Statement: Father’s Statement

The father of the accused in the accident has apologised to the victim’s family with folded hands and said that his son made a mistake. He will surrender after the exam is over.

Speaking to news agency ANI, the accused’s father said, “This is my son’s mistake, and I apologise for it. I will follow all legal procedures. All the information I have is from the police. Both my daughter and son were in the car. I operate a commercial vehicle business. This vehicle is used in our business, and the fines issued on it are due to our drivers. This did not happen because of my son.”

The accused’s lawyer says that the accused is under stress and is unable to perform properly. His family is also receiving threats. The accused’s lawyer, Lal Singh Thakur, said, “A mother lost her son in the accident, but the accused’s entire family is also in stress and shock since the accident.” Especially the accused, who is unable to properly take his board exams. His behavior should be commended, as he did not flee the scene. The family is also cooperating with the court. Threatening calls are being received. The accused is under so much pressure that something untoward could happen.

Accused’s father also said that he did not know his daughter was making the video. He said, “It was not a reel, but a short video.” He reiterated that the SUV used is part of his commercial fleet and that previous challans were issued by other drivers.

Following the statement by the accused minor’s father, Sahil’s mother responded, saying, “What is the accused’s father sorry for? For ruining my life? I apologise, but I cannot accept his apology.”

She said, “I have no mornings or evenings left… no reason to go to work, no reason to wake up. My whole world is over, so why should I apologise now?”
