According to the sources, the glitch started on Thursday evening which affected the Automatic Message Switching System(AMSS), an important communication key that provides data for the Auto Track System (ATS), which processes to generate flight plans for the controllers.
When the automatic system was down, the air traffic controllers were forced to plan the flights manually using the available data, this resulted in the widespread of delays and congestion around Delhi.
“The issue was with the AMSS system that supplies information for the Auto track system. whereas, the controllers are preparing the flights manually. Which is taking significant time”, said by senior airport source.
