In August 2024, the DDA invited citizens to visit the restored meadows on the Yamuna floodplains in Bansera, near Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi. Appreciating the efforts of DDA officials, the Lieutenant Governor also attached a short video showing the area’s transformation in a post on the social media platform X, captioned “Bansera – Restored from desolation to a lush green oasis.”

He said, “Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s grand vision of restoring 26 million hectares of barren land in the country by 2030, I took a small step in Delhi on May 28, 2022, soon after assuming office as Lieutenant Governor.”

Lieutenant Governor Saxena said in a post on X that Bansra, the home of bamboos, was conceived while visiting the highly polluted and contaminated stretch of the Yamuna opposite Sarai Kale Khan on the Ring Road. This was followed by not only restoration but also reconstruction and transformation of the area in just 18 months, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Delhi Development Authority.
