CM Mann Japan South Korea Tour: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said today that the enthusiasm shown by investors during his visits to Japan and South Korea will mark a new milestone in Punjab’s industrial progress and help the state emerge as a preferred global investment destination. Sharing his experience, the Chief Minister said he presented Punjab as an emerging industrial hub. The aim of the visit was to attract investments, accelerate industrial growth, and generate employment opportunities for the youth.

Yamaha officials Tanaka Hiroki and Suzuki Mari explored collaboration in electric vehicles, R&D, and skill development. Honda Motor Company representatives met the Chief Minister and expressed interest in exploring component manufacturing through Indian partners. Honda was invited to the Punjab Investment Summit 2026.

Parliamentary Vice-Minister Komori Takuo assured coordination between Japanese firms and Invest Punjab. Fujitsu expressed interest in digital governance and possible future projects in Mohali.
NEC Corporation explored collaboration in digital initiatives and industrial automation. Over 250 participants attended the Tokyo Roadshow, reflecting strong support from Japanese industry bodies such as JETRO India. Companies like Hero MotoCorp partners, Vardhman, and Excel Scout shared their positive Punjab experience.

Toppan Holdings expressed interest in expanding its Punjab-based operations. A new MoU was signed to set up a ‘Skilling Excellence Centre.’ Meetings with NRIs in Japan focused on encouraging diaspora-led investments in manufacturing, technology, and services. Aichi Steel leadership welcomed the state’s proposals. A MoU was signed to explore investment of ₹500 crore with Vardhman Special Steels, including technical assistance and support from the Punjab government. Yanmar Holdings acknowledged its positive experience in Punjab and discussed expansion in agri-technology, R&D, and allied sectors. Air Water Inc. expressed interest in bio-methane, specialty gases, clean energy, and water purification projects in Punjab.
The Osaka Chamber of Commerce showed strong interest in expanding India-Japan business ties. Tokushima Auction Market & Global Venture expressed interest in agricultural market development, technology exchange, and joint ventures in agri-logistics. More than 80 delegates attended the Osaka Roadshow, showing keen interest in collaboration with JETRO, Osaka Prefecture, and METI Kansai.

During a meeting with the Indian diaspora, the CM encouraged them to promote Punjab to South Korean investors. Inputs were received on the food processing sector. Daewoo E&C officials discussed infrastructure and development opportunities in Punjab. GS E&C explored collaboration in EPC, renewable energy, technology transfer, and battery storage. Korean food major Nongshim expressed interest in establishing a manufacturing unit in Punjab under the outsourcing share policy. A roundtable with top law firms and Korean associations saw strong interest in manufacturing and R&D hubs in Punjab. Officials from Pangyo Techno Valley explained its innovation model. Punjab will explore adopting similar frameworks for Mohali’s startup ecosystem.

The Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) appreciated Punjab’s interest in developing the display and electronics ecosystem. The Punjab Investment Roadshow in Seoul saw participation from Bloomberg, KOTRA, Sunjin, and several leading Korean firms. Sunjin praised the living standards in Mohali and Chandigarh and expressed plans for expansion. SBA highlighted strong complementarity between Seoul’s technology ecosystem and Punjab’s emerging IT and electronics sectors. KNSU welcomed proposals for sports training and academic exchange. They were invited to visit Jalandhar, known as India’s sporting hub. Over 10 tour operators in Seoul showed interest in exploring Punjab’s tourism potential. Sunjin expressed intent to expand animal feed capacity and enter poultry and dairy sectors in Punjab. CM Mann said Japan and South Korea bring world-class technology while Punjab has unmatched human talent. The upcoming Progressive Punjab Investors Summit will help merge technology with talent, making Punjab a leading global hub. Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, Principal Secretary Dr. Ravi Bhagat, and other senior officials were part of the delegation.
