Chapra Bihar Encounter: This is the third encounter in last 12 days since the formation of new government in Bihar, and second in the last 48 hours. A late-night encounter took place between police and liquor mafia in the Manjhi police station area of ​​Chapra. Notorious smuggler Ajay Rai was injured by a police bullet and is currently hospitalized. The frequent encounters in Bihar have created panic among criminals. The SSP gave a clear message that if criminals take up arms, the police will respond with a strong response.

This incident reportedly occurred around 1 a.m. on Tuesday night. According to police sources, the two smugglers were arriving at Durga Ghat in the Manjhi area with a large quantity of liquor in a boat. Acting on a tip-off, the police officials had already laid a trap around Durga Ghat. As soon as the boat docked, smugglers, seeing the police, started open fire. Then police returned fire, injuring one smuggler, identified as Ajay Rai.

The injured smuggler, Ajay Rai, was immediately admitted to Chapra Sadar Hospital and is undergoing treatment. Police recovered a country-made pistol, four live cartridges, two empty cartridges, and 600 litres of liquor from the scene. Hearing the gunfire, another smuggler, Sukesh Kumar, surrendered on the spot and has also been arrested. This is the third encounter in Bihar within 12 days since Samrat Chaudhary became Home Minister.

Police have launched an investigation into the entire liquor mafia network of the arrested smugglers. It is suspected that they may be linked to major gangs on the Bihar-Uttar Pradesh border. They are investigating where the liquor was brought from and where it was being transported. In the Manjhi area, cases of liquor smuggling have increased rapidly in the past few months. Since the formation of the new government in Bihar, the police have been conducting a continuous crackdown, and this encounter is part of that crackdown.

The frequent police encounters have intimidated criminals. Even ordinary people now feel that the rule of law has truly returned. Criminals no longer roam around fearlessly as before. In the recent past, the notorious hunter Rai was killed in a half-encounter, and now Ajay Rai has been arrested in a police encounter.
