Bhau Gang Encounter: Police had received intel

Delhi Crime News: Police had received intel

According to the Dwarka DCP, the police had received prior information that Ankit was present near the Sai Temple. Based on this information, the Anti-Narcotics Cell team laid a trap in the area, and as soon as Ankit reached the temple, the police surrounded him from all sides. As pressure mounted, he began firing indiscriminately, but due to police vigilance and a bulletproof jacket, a major tragedy was averted. Only after Ankit fell down after being shot in retaliatory fire did the police succeed in arresting him.

Delhi Crime News: Many cases registered against Ankit

At just 24 years old, Ankit had a bounty of 25,000 rupees announced on him. He had three serious cases registered against him, including firing on police in Najafgarh, firing on Haryana police, five cases related to drug trafficking, and three attempted murder cases. According to police records, he was considered the most dangerous and active shooter of the Bhau gang.

Delhi Crime News: Four accused of Bhau gang arrested

Police sources say that out of the total six shooters of the Bhau gang, the police have so far arrested four. Ankit and another accused were still at large, but Ankit’s arrest has almost completely decimated the gang’s strength. The gang was active in drug trafficking, extortion, and recovery cases in Delhi and the NCR, and was constantly under police surveillance.

The police are considering Ankit’s arrest a major success, as his capture will not only curb the gang’s activities but also provide valuable information that could pave the way for further action. Currently, the police have intensified the search for the other absconding accomplice and are conducting a search operation in the area.
