Bhagwant Mann Japan visit: On the third day of his visit to Japan, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann paved the way for potential investments of approximately ₹500 crore in the state. On this occasion, Aichi Steel Corporation, a renowned Japanese steel company, committed to further strengthening its collaboration with Vardhman Special Steels in Punjab. A formal agreement was signed between the two companies in the presence of the Chief Minister.
CM Bhagwant Mann’s Japan visit: A new opportunity for industry in Punjab
Calling it a significant achievement for the state, the Chief Minister said that Aichi Steel, known as Toyota’s steel unit, will play a crucial role in accelerating industrial development in Punjab. Currently, Aichi Steel holds approximately 24.9% stake in Vardhman Special Steels. This agreement also signals the growing industrial cooperation between India and Japan.
CM Bhagwant Mann: Potential for ₹500 crore investment
Aichi Steel will conduct a detailed study on the feasibility of establishing a new factory in Punjab in the near future. This includes evaluating an investment of approximately ₹500 crore. The Chief Minister said that this step will open new avenues for employment and industrial expansion in the state.
Existing Japanese Companies to Receive Full Support
Bhagwant Singh Mann assured that the Punjab government will provide full encouragement and support to Japanese companies operating in the state to expand their businesses. He said that the combination of Aichi Group’s technology and Vardhman’s expertise will pave the way for new industrial growth in the state.
Invitation to Participate in Investor Summit
The Chief Minister also invited Aichi Steel to participate in the Progressive Punjab Investor Summit 2026, scheduled to take place from March 13 to 15, 2026, at the Indian School of Business, Mohali. He said that this summit will showcase Punjab’s rapid progress and bring together major investors from the industry on a single platform. He expressed hope that the Japanese industry will participate in large numbers in this summit and make a significant contribution to the development of Punjab.

The Chief Minister stated that the Punjab government’s main objective is to provide maximum employment opportunities to the youth and to offer investors a safe, stable, and trustworthy environment. He added that Japanese companies have always shown confidence in Punjab, and this partnership is a result of that trust.

He stated that Punjab is emerging as one of the most industry-friendly states in the country. Punjab has secured a leading position in the Government of India’s BRAP 2024 rankings, reflecting the state government’s focus on transparency, ease of doing business, and accountability.

The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government is creating a world-class industrial environment by ensuring policy stability, quick decision-making, and understanding the needs of investors. The state is continuously improving its infrastructure to create new investment opportunities and make Punjab a preferred destination for global investors.
