Bhagwant Mann Japan visit: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today urged expatriate Punjabis living in Seoul to act as ambassadors for the state, encouraging Korean companies to invest in Punjab, which has emerged as one of the most preferred investment destinations worldwide.
During his visit to South Korea, the Chief Minister, while interacting with Punjabi community in Seoul, said that due to the state government’s industry-friendly policies, investors are already coming forward to invest in Punjab, and Punjabis in Seoul should further help attract investment by becoming brand ambassadors for the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjabis are natural entrepreneurs, and each one of us should strive to propel the state forward on path of industrial development. Showing his emotional connection with the Punjabi community, he said that state government is already providing a conducive environment for industries in the state, and now it is the turn of Punjabi diaspora to serve their homeland.

The Chief Minister said that this will open new avenues of employment for youth and also give a major boost to the industrial development of state, thus contributing to a prosperous Punjab. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Punjabis are global citizens who have carved a niche for themselves in every corner of the world, and the spirit of hard work is ingrained in their blood.
The Chief Minister appreciated Punjabi community’s entrepreneurial spirit, cultural commitment, and their contribution to strengthening people-to-people and business-to-business relations. He also appealed to them to play an active role in guiding Korean companies and presenting Punjab as a preferred investment destination. Bhagwant Singh Mann sought their support and cooperation in creating more opportunities for employment, innovation, and technological collaboration.

The Chief Minister said that his vision is crystal clear – to make Punjab the most preferred destination for global industry by providing policy stability, a fast decision-making process, and a governance system that respects the time and trust of investors. He said that Punjab’s approach is based on partnership and working together with industries, understanding their needs, and ensuring that the government becomes a partner in their growth. Bhagwant Singh Mann further added that Punjab has strengthened its infrastructure, expanded its industrial capacity, and opened up new avenues for investment.
The Chief Minister also highlighted state’s governance and regulatory reforms, including fast-track Punjab Single-Window System, automatic deemed approval for 173 services, PAN-based business identification, and amendments to the Punjab Business Rights Act, which ensure time-bound approvals. He also shed light on Punjab’s industrial infrastructure and stated that investments exceeding ₹1.4 lakh crore have already been secured through Invest Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab’s approach is based on partnership and collaboration with industries, so that government can understand their needs and act as a positive catalyst for development. Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that Punjab has strengthened its infrastructure, enhanced its industrial capacity, and opened new avenues for investment. He emphasised that partnership between the government and industry is the key to success, and state government firmly believes that industrial development is only possible when we work together as equal partners.
During this time, the expatriate community warmly welcomed Chief Minister’s delegation. They appreciated Punjab’s global reach and the continuous efforts to keep Punjabi culture alive among Koreans through the celebration of festivals, language, cuisine, and customs.
The expatriate community expressed hope that this visit would usher in a new chapter in Punjab-South Korea relations, paving the way for long-term partnerships and fruitful outcomes in industry, technology, and cultural exchange.

C. Akash, Managing Director of Aran International, showed keen interest in investment opportunities in Punjab’s food processing sector. Eminent scholar Dr. (Prof.) Lakhwinder Singh also welcomed the Chief Minister’s initiative to hold investment roadshows in South Korea to attract investment, particularly in defence and aerospace sectors. Meenakshi Pawar, Chairperson of Punjabi Association in Korea, noted that it was after a long time that a high-level delegation from the Punjab government had visited South Korea and emphasised that this new initiative would open up new possibilities for long-term cooperation.
Notably, the Chief Minister embarked on this phase of international investment outreach in South Korea after a highly successful visit to Japan. Bhagwant Singh Mann also held extensive discussions with India’s Ambassador to Korea, Gaurangalal Das. During the meeting, he outlined the Punjab government’s objectives to promote deeper economic and technological cooperation in high-potential sectors such as food processing, agri-tech, renewable energy, manufacturing, defence, aerospace, and urban infrastructure.
Bhagwant Singh Mann also highlighted Punjab’s evolving industrial environment, progressive policies, and key advantages that position the state as a strategic gateway to North India.
CM Bhagwant Mann leads round-table discussion on Ease of doing Business with Korean Investors and Firms

On Monday, the Punjab delegation will participate in several high-level meetings, beginning with meetings with leading Korean companies Daewoo E&C, GS E&C, and Nongshim, exploring opportunities in construction engineering, infrastructure development, and advanced food processing. Following this, the Chief Minister will participate in a round-table discussion on ease of doing business in Punjab, involving leading law firms, financial investors, consulting groups, and business organisations. The objective is to provide Korean stakeholders with a clear understanding of Punjab’s governance reforms, transparent processes, and investor-friendly framework.
This will be followed by a visit to Pangyo Techno Valley, South Korea’s leading innovation and technology cluster, where the delegation will study best practices in research and development, start-up ecosystem, and high-tech industrial development. The busy day will conclude with focused discussions with the Korea Defence Industry Association (KDIA), exploring potential collaborations in defence manufacturing, aerospace technologies, and other industrial capabilities relevant to Punjab’s future development.
