Anurag Dhanda on Punjab Policy: Anurag Dhanda, National Media In-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party, launched a scathing attack on the BJP government in Haryana and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, saying that the ten-year government has plunged the power sector into debt and losses. He said that according to official figures, Haryana’s power distribution corporations have accumulated losses of ₹27,915 crore, and total borrowings have reached ₹20,311 crore.

This situation shows that the government has neither been able to implement financial reforms nor provide relief to consumers. Today, the average household in Haryana is suffering from high tariffs, heavy fixed charges, and ever-increasing electricity bills, but the government has no concrete answers.

Anurag Dhanda said that as a result of the BJP government’s failed policies, the condition of power corporations has continuously deteriorated. Instead of reducing losses, the debt has increased, and the burden has been directly passed on to the public. He questioned who is responsible for the accumulated losses of ₹27,915 crore and why this burden is being placed on future generations.

Citing the example of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, he said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited earned a profit of ₹2,600 crore in the 2024-25 fiscal year, a significant increase compared to previous years. In the national rankings, PSPCL secured second place in the country with an A+ grade. This demonstrates that with good intentions and transparent governance, the power sector can be made profitable.

Roshan Punjab Mission

Anurag Dhanda said that the decision to provide free electricity up to 300 units under the “Roshan Punjab Mission” is a testament to the Aam Aadmi Party government’s public-spirited approach. Over 90 percent of domestic consumers in Punjab have benefited from zero bills, providing direct relief to millions of families. He said that while the public in Punjab is receiving free electricity and better services, the BJP government in Haryana is unable to reduce its losses even after charging high bills.

He said that the BJP government should inform the people of Haryana about the concrete steps taken to improve the power system in the last ten years. If the corporations in Punjab can remain profitable even after providing free electricity, why have the debt and losses in Haryana continued to rise?

AAP News Today

The Aam Aadmi Party demands that the Haryana government issue a white paper on the financial condition of the power corporations and clarify who will be held accountable for these massive losses and debts. Anurag Dhanda said that the Punjab model has proven that honest leadership and clear policies can provide relief to the public and strengthen government institutions. Now, the people of Haryana are drawing comparisons and demanding answers.
