AAP Slams Union Budget: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, reacting to the Union Budget, said that the central government has once again ignored legitimate concerns of farmers in Punjab and Haryana, exposing the hollowness of its claims of being farmer-friendly. Cheema pointed out that there has been no increase in the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, nor has any concrete support been provided to strengthen market infrastructure, leaving the agrarian states to fend for themselves.

He said that Punjab’s farmers feed the nation, yet the central government is neglecting investment in the systems that ensure food security. The Finance Minister also criticised the selective approach adopted to promote high-value crops. While the budget mentions crops like coconut, cashew, sandalwood, and dry fruits, there is nothing for the farmers of North India who depend on crops suited to their agricultural seasons.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that this budget clearly demonstrates the central government’s discriminatory attitude and its continued indifference towards the farmers of grain-producing states, especially Punjab. These farmers deserve respect, support, and proper investment, not empty slogans.

Union Budget turns its back on Punjab’s farmers: Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian

Budget a major disappointment, no roadmap for MSP, no support for diversification, and no relief for flood-affected farmers

He said that the budget failed to provide a clear roadmap for Minimum Support Price (MSP) beyond wheat and paddy, which shows the central government’s lack of seriousness towards securing farmers’ income.

Khudian pointed out that no concrete package has been provided for crop diversification, which is crucial for sustainable agriculture in Punjab, nor has any financial assistance been given to farmers affected by recurring floods. He claimed that the central government has once again turned its back on the country’s farmers by ignoring their difficulties and making hollow promises.

The minister said that farmers of Punjab deserve genuine support and fair policies, not continuous neglect by the central government.

He said that the BJP had made big promises to come to power, but the budget failed to take any meaningful steps for farmers, youth, women, or common citizens.

Arora specifically stated that Punjab has once again been treated like a stepchild. Despite Punjab’s historical contribution to feeding the nation since independence and always being at the forefront during difficult times, no major projects have been allocated to the state.

He termed the central government’s attitude as extremely unfortunate and said that the continuous neglect of Punjab is unacceptable. Aman Arora completely rejected the budget and appealed to the Prime Minister and the central government to stop discriminating against Punjab. He reminded them that Punjab is an integral part of the country and deserves fair treatment, respect, and the assistance it is entitled to.

Aam Aadmi Party’s chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal strongly condemned the Union Budget, saying that it shows blatant discrimination against Punjab. He said that the central government has once again betrayed the state by not providing anything for farmers, youth, or development. The budget neither provides any legal guarantee on MSP, nor any assurance of employment for the youth, nor has it sanctioned any major project for Punjab. Dhaliwal reminded everyone that Punjab has made the greatest sacrifices for the country, from the freedom struggle to protecting the nation’s borders today. Despite this, the central government is consistently denying Punjab its due by withholding funds and ignoring the state’s needs.

He said that Punjabis are hardworking and courageous and will stand on their own feet, but the central government will one day have to answer for its continuous neglect. Dhaliwal strongly criticised the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister for repeatedly doing injustice to Punjab and termed it extremely painful and unacceptable.

Union Budget’s Grand Claims, but Hollow in Reality: Neel Garg

Said – Punjab, Farmers, Youth, and Common People Disappointed Once Again

AAP senior leader Neel Garg strongly criticized the Union Budget, comparing it to the Punjabi proverb “Patiyea Pahad, Nikleya Chuha” (Digging a mountain, only to find a mouse). He said that despite big announcements and impressive figures, the budget does not make a single announcement that would provide real relief to Punjab.

Garg said that farmers in Punjab, who suffered heavy losses due to floods last year, were expecting special assistance and were hoping for a legal guarantee on MSP, but the budget offered them nothing. He further added that the youth of Punjab have been disappointed once again, as the long-standing promises of employment guarantees have remained mere slogans.

He pointed out that the industrial sector was expecting special concessions to boost development and create jobs in Punjab, but no such assistance was announced. At a time when the common man is struggling with rising inflation, the budget has provided no significant relief. Neel Garg alleged that the budget clearly favours big corporate houses like Ambani and Adani while neglecting farmers, labourers, and ordinary citizens. He said that Punjabis, who have fed the nation and made the greatest sacrifices for the country’s security, feel betrayed today. Garg emphasized that people need real relief at the grassroots level, not empty promises. He stated that the budget has completely failed to meet the people’s expectations.
