AAP News Update: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday exposed two more alleged cases of fraud in the BJP government’s Atal Canteen scheme, claiming that several canteens exist only on paper. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that after Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura, Atal Canteens in Shakur Basti and Punjabi Camp were also found to be non-functional. He pointed out that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had inaugurated 45 Atal Canteens, but so far, four of them have been exposed as fraudulent. Bhardwaj added that it has not even been a week since the canteens were supposedly launched, yet complaints have already started pouring in from people who are not getting food. Accusing the BJP of corruption, he said the government is even tarnishing the name of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee through this alleged canteen scam.
AAP Saurabh Bhardwaj targets BJP: Fact-Check reveals Atal Canteens in Shakur Basti, Punjabi Camp exist only on Paper

Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi state convener, Saurabh Bhardwaj, has launched a scathing attack on the BJP over the “Atal Canteens” that exist only on paper. During a fact-check of the Atal Canteens, it was discovered that canteens in Shakur Basti and Punjabi Camp also exist only on paper. The AAP has shared videos of the ongoing construction work at these two locations on social media, exposing the BJP government’s fraudulent practices. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the series of fraudulent activities uncovered during the fact-check of the Atal Canteens continues. Only 45 Atal Canteens have been inaugurated, and even those exist only on paper. After Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura, now Atal Canteens in Shakur Basti and Punjabi Camp are also found to be operating only on paper.
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that CM Rekha Gupta had inaugurated 45 Atal Canteens. Although the government had initially announced plans to open 100 Atal Canteens, only a list of 45 allotted canteens was released on the day of the inauguration. The Aam Aadmi Party had exposed the fact that the Atal Canteens inaugurated by CM Rekha Gupta in her Shalimar constituency, as well as in Pitampura, existed only on paper. But now, our fact-check has revealed that Atal Canteens in Shakur Basti and Punjabi Camp are also operating only on paper.
Saurabh Bhardwaj also criticised the BJP’s Rekha Gupta government over the mismanagement and complaints of people not receiving food at these canteens, which were supposedly started three days ago. He said that it hasn’t even been a week since the Atal Canteens were launched, and people are already complaining about not getting food. The BJP government, which he referred to as the “Phulera Panchayat” government, is even tarnishing the name of the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee in this canteen scam.
AAP Targets BJP: AAP exposes two more ‘Paper-Only’ Atal Canteens in Shakur Basti and Punjabi Camp
Sharing a video of these Atal Canteens that were inaugurated only on paper, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that on December 25th, they showed two such canteens that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had inaugurated, but there was no sign of a canteen at those locations. On Sunday, they presented the reality of two more such canteens to the people of Delhi. These canteens have not yet started operating, even though they were inaugurated on December 25th in the name of Rekha Gupta.
According to a video shared by Saurabh Bhardwaj, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers reached the Bhagat Singh Camp in Shakur Basti around 3:30 PM. This location was on the list of canteens inaugurated by the Chief Minister. However, upon inspection, nothing was found there. The canteen gates were closed. They then visited the Punjabi Camp in Peeragarhi. Here too, the canteen was not operational, despite also having been inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Trees were found to have been illegally cut down without permission to make way for the canteen. Construction work was still ongoing despite the implementation of GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) in Delhi. The canteen is not yet complete. This is the reality of the BJP’s “four-engine government,” which is destroying trees in the name of Atal Canteens and doing nothing but spreading lies in Delhi.
