Today marks the 17th year since the Mumbai terror attack, when the normal bustle of Mumbai was suddenly filled with gunfire, explosions, and flames. What was an ordinary evening turned into a horrific one, with a siege that tested people’s courage, scarred countless families, and is forever etched in the nation’s memory.

The terrorists’ plan for the Mumbai attack resulted in a horrific incident. Before the attack, the terrorists hijacked a boat at sea, killed the crew, and forced the captain to escort them to India. Upon reaching Mumbai, they killed the captain and entered a fishermen’s colony. From there, the terrorists divided into groups and carried out the attack.

Amid nearly 60 hours of fast-paced events, stories of extraordinary achievement emerged of brave men who stood face to face with terrorists, and of ordinary citizens who became heroes in the line of duty. Praveen Kumar Tewatia, a former member of the Marine Commandos, was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his bravery during the 26/11 terrorist attack on the Taj Hotel.
Navy Officer Saved 150 Lives

Praveen was hit by five bullets that day, one of which passed over his ear and another that shattered his ribs, lacerating his right lung. Despite his injuries and the dark room, where the terrorists had the advantage of being present, he continued to fight them until his comrades rescued 150 people from a nearby hall.
