Officials under fire for misleading road plan favoring private hospital
In Faridabad, controversy surrounds a government-funded road plan benefiting SSB Hospital, led by Dr. SS Bansal. The plan claims to ease traffic at Ajronda Chowk, but critics argue it serves the hospital's interests. Dr. Bansal's influence as an FMDA member raises concerns about misuse of power and disregard for regulations, prompting calls for investigation.
A remarkable event has emerged in Faridabad, an industrial city. A scheme has been devised to build a concrete road around three sides of the SSB hospital near Ajronda Chowk, funded by the government, to benefit the hospital. Surprisingly, the mastermind behind this plan is Dr. SS Bansal, the CMD of Barik SSB Hospital.
As a nominated member of FMDA, he has exploited his position to create a plan for road construction around his hospital for its advantage. Furthermore, the plan misleadingly informed the government and administration that constructing roads around his private hospital would alleviate traffic congestion at Ajronda Chowk, despite the fact that the traffic jam at Ajronda is unrelated to the road construction around his hospital. It is unexpected that Dr. SS Bansal is advising the relevant departments to disregard NGT regulations for building on the green belt to favor his hospital.
On May 4, 2025, Dr. SS Bansal, identifying as an expert member of FMDA, penned a letter to the Chief Minister's Office advocating for the construction of roads on all three sides of his hospital. Additionally, the traffic police issued a letter highlighting the necessity of this road, which was received by the Haryana Road Development Authority on December 11, 2023.
The hospital stands to gain the most from the construction of roads on all three sides, as employees are currently parking illegally in the area. To address this, plans have been made to construct roads around the hospital as part of a strategic initiative to provide parking. However, executing this plan is nearly impossible because the proposed road site is on private property. Additionally, it is crucial to investigate other matters in the town where Dr. SS Bansal, as a non-official member of FMDA, has submitted reports or recommendations to the government or relevant department.
Additionally, it needs to be investigated why the traffic police discussed constructing a road on all three sides of the hospital leading to Awarida Chowk, despite the fact that the traffic from Awarida Chowk is unrelated to this road. Furthermore, it is crucial to examine the basis and the advice on which various departments compiled their report about this unauthorized road and submitted it to the Haryana Urban Development Authority.
Efforts were made to gather the officials' perspective on this issue, but they avoided it by stating that the matter is quite old. A comprehensive report has been requested to identify who devised the plan to construct a road benefiting a private hospital at the government's expense and which department officials were involved. It is anticipated that several officials might face penalties for deceiving the government in this case.
