Efforts to boost credit-deposit ratio in Uttarakhand districts

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India] July 11 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to simplify loan processes under various central and state government schemes to ensure maximum benefits reach the people. During a special meeting of the State Level Bankers Committee at the Secretariat on Friday, CM Dhami emphasised that solving public problems should be the top priority. The Chief Minister also highlighted the need to streamline insurance claim processes in agricultural insurance schemes and increase the credit-deposit ratio in districts.

The Chief Minister said that more efforts should be made to increase the credit deposit ratio of the state. In the financial year 2024-25, the credit deposit ratio of the state has increased from 54 per cent to 54.26 per cent.
The Chief Minister said that more effective efforts should be made to take it to 60 per cent. Special attention should be given to increase the credit deposit ratio in the hilly districts of the state, especially Tehri, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Almora, Pauri and Bageshwar districts. The Chief Minister said that in order to ensure that people get the benefits of public welfare schemes at one place on the same day, a large scale camp should be organized in all the districts in October, in which all the departments and bankers sit together and solve the public problems and benefit them from various schemes.

It was informed in the meeting that under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana in Uttarakhand, 48 thousand persons per lakh have received insurance coverage, which is more than the national average of 40 thousand. Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, the average loan amount disbursed to per borrower in the state is Rs 93,900, which is much higher than the national average of 62,686. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, 39 lakh accounts have been opened in the state so far, this figure is the highest among the hill states.

In the financial year 2024-25, there was an increase of 10.26 per cent in advances and 9.09 per cent in deposits in the state. There has been consistent good progress in the last three years under the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Scheme and the Chief Minister Swarojgar Yojana of the state government. A total of 06 lakh 10 thousand 636 farmers of the state have availed the KCC facility, out of which 67 per cent are small and marginal farmers. 70.23 per cent of the self-help groups in the state have credit linkage. In the last three years, the number of SHGs has increased by 21 per cent. (ANI)
