Erwin Khundrakpam from Manipur topped the NEET UG 2025 exam in his state, scoring a 99.82 percentile. Initially aspiring to be an engineer, he was influenced by his father to pursue medicine. Despite considering this his worst exam of the year, Erwin's dedication paid off, overcoming earlier challenges like poor class 11 results due to COVID-19.

Thoubal (Manipur) [India], June 15 (ANI): Expressing his happiness after achieving the first rank in the NEET-UG 2025 examination in Manipur by scoring 99.82 percentile, Erwin Khundrakpam highlighted that he was expecting such a result as it was his worst exam of the year.

Khundrakpam said that he wanted to become an engineer in the first instance, but later his father explained the importance of becoming a doctor. The latter said that he gave his first NEET attempt in 2023, and his class 11th results were not good due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I had no idea this would happen, as this was the worst exam I had all year. I was not expecting this at all. I initially wanted to become an engineer, but my father explained the importance of becoming a doctor, so I gave my first attempt in 2023. My Class 11 results weren't good because of COVID, so I wasn't well prepared back then. This year, I tried my best and worked hard", Erwin Khundrakpam told ANI on Sunday.
