Geeta Samota completes 8,849 meter climb

Geeta Samota, a woman sub-inspector (L/SI) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has successfully climbed Mount Everest, the world's highest peak situated at an altitude of 8,849 metres (29,032 feet). On Monday (19.05.25) morning Geeta stood on the roof of the world, a triumphant moment that symbolized not only a personal victory but also the incredible strength born within the CISF and the Indian nation.

She hails from Rajasthan.

This historic achievement is the culmination of a journey that began from the simple surroundings of Chak village in Rajasthan's Sikar district, driven by a desire to break barriers and inspire. Born in an ordinary family with four sisters, Geeta was brought up in a traditional way in Chak village. Geeta joined the Central Industrial Security Force in 2011. It was here that he saw that mountaineering is a path that is not easy for people, as the CISF did not even have a dedicated mountaineering team at that time. He recognized it as an opportunity.

Climbing many peaks in 2021 and 2022 as well

Between 2021 and early 2022, he successfully climbed four of these inaccessible peaks. Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 m) in Australia, Mount Elbrus (5,642 m) in Russia, Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) in Tanzania and Mount Aconcagua (6,961 m) in Argentina. He achieved this unbelievable feat.

Inspiring for society

Geeta has not only conquered mountains but also broken gender stereotypes, proving that women can excel in even the toughest fields. Gita's message to young girls is simple – dream big, work hard and never give up. Taking forward their achievements, the CISF has also planned to send an entire CISF mountaineering team to climb Mount Everest in 2026.
