India: A Billion stories, A Billion storytellers - PM Modi at WAVES 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre. He  described it as a historic moment for India's cultural and creative fields. The theme of the four-day summit is 'Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries'. It aims to establish India as a global hub for media, entertainment and digital innovation. PM Modi addressed a diverse audience of artists, innovators, industry leaders and policy makers from over 90 countries inaugurating the event and said that India with a population of over a billion is also a land of more than a billion stories and more than a billion storytellers. Every street, every river, every mountain in India has a story. In more than six lakh villages, each one has a new story, a new perspective. In fact, India has a lot to offer.

Speaking on the cultural heritage of India, he said that music is also a form of spiritual practice in India. Every note tells a story, every rhythm has a soul. Whether it is devotional hymns or modern composition, the sound of India has a touch of divinity in it. When the world looks for stories, India offers a treasure trove of science, imagination, adventure and imagination. Our creative basket is huge and ready to share.

Waves 2025 is India's first-of-its-kind international summit dedicated to the audio-visual and entertainment sectors. It will bring together more than 10,000 delegates, 1,000 creators, 300 companies, and 350 startups, creating a powerful cross-sectoral network. From film and OTT to AVGC-XR, comics, AI and broadcasting, the event covers the entire spectrum of media and emerging technologies.
