Pahalgam Terror Attack: Foreign Tourists and Navy officers among the dead

Pahalgam Attack Leaves Multiple Dead and Injured, Security Forces Launch Search

In a tragic terrorist attack today in the popular tourist spot of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, several people were killed, including two foreign tourists, two Navy officers, and a senior Intelligence Bureau officer. Official sources stated that the incident happened in broad daylight, causing widespread panic in the area.

Lt. Vinay Narwal, a young Indian Navy officer, was among the victims. He was with his wife, Mrs. Himanshi Narwal, during the attack. Another Navy officer also lost his life, but his identity has not been confirmed yet.

Tragically, IB SO of SIB, Hyderabad, Manish Ranjan was also killed. He was shot dead in front of his wife and two young children during the attack.

Two international tourists, thought to be one from Italy and another from Israel, also perished. Their identities have not yet been officially verified, and their respective embassies have been notified.

In addition, several other individuals were hurt during the assault on tourists at Baisaran, Pahalgam. The injured include: Vino Bhat from Gujarat, Manik Patil, Rino Pandey, S. Balachandru from Maharashtra, Dr. Parmeshwar, Abhijavan Rao from Karnataka, Abhijavam Rao from Karnataka, Santru from Tamil Nadu, and Sahshi Kumari from Odisha.

Mohd Saleem Jeelani, a shopkeeper from Pirbagh, Hyderpora, was found injured in Lal Nagar, Chanapora. Locals took him to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar. He suffered a serious throat injury and cuts on his left wrist, likely caused by a sharp object. Doctors state that his condition is critical.

Security forces have sealed off the area and launched a large-scale search operation to find those responsible for the attack. The motive and group behind the attack are still under investigation.

Home Minister Amit Shah reached the site of the attack in south Kashmir's Anantnag district to assess the situation personally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also twitted "I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones.
