1,111 GPS-equipped water tankers rolled out in Delhi
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday flagged off 1,111 water tanks for the Jal Board and said that people will be able to track the location of GPS-equipped tankers with the help of the tanker application. Targeting the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, Gupta said that there was leakage in the entire system in the name of tanker mafia. He said that earlier the water tanks were not known. He, however, added that the routes used by the tankers could be tracked as they were fitted with GPS.
"In the previous government, there was leakage in the entire system in the name of tanker mafia. There was corruption. Water was sent to the common people, but no one knew where it went. The new government of Delhi is dedicated to providing clean water. Today, 1,111 tankers are being sent and they are GPS-enabled so that they can be tracked," he said. The route of each tanker can be recorded. People will be able to keep track of the location with the help of the tanker app. "
New Delhi: Strict punishment should be given to officials violating rules for constructing weak buildings in the national capital and all such buildings in the city should be notified and appropriate action should be taken against them, Gupta said on Saturday. Talking to reporters here, the Chief Minister said, "It is a very sensitive issue that the way such weak buildings are being constructed by flouting all the rules, the guilty officials should also be punished for such construction."
The contractor or builder involved should also be penalised and all such buildings across the city should be notified and action should be taken against them. It is very sad for all of us that people are dying due to such accidents," he said. Earlier, the Chief Minister condoled the death of four persons in the building collapse incident in Mustafabad in the national capital in the wee hours.
