Supreme Court to address controversial Waqf Act amid violence

Waqf Bill to come into force on April 8

Seven states, including Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Assam, have filed a petition in the Supreme Court arguing that the constitutional validity of the Waqf Board Amendment Act 2025 should be maintained.

Cancellation Demand

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Delhi AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Arshad Madani, Association for Protection of Civil Rights, All Kerala Jamiatul Ulema and many others have filed a petition against the bill and demanded the repeal of the law, calling it unconstitutional and against Muslims and arbitrary.

There have been protests in many places in the country regarding the Waqf law, but the violence that erupted in West Bengal is the most brutal violence so far, in which many people have become homeless and there has been a terrible incident of vandalism and arson. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has clearly said that she will not allow this law to be implemented.
