Ram Rahim Singh, the leader of Dera Sacha Sauda who is currently serving a prison sentence for rape, has been released from jail once more. This time, he has been granted a 21-day furlough. April 29 marks the foundation day of Dera Sacha Sauda. Ram Rahim has previously been released from jail.
Around 7 am, Ram Rahim was escorted out of Sunaria jail in Rohtak under heavy police security. He then departed for Dera Sacha Sauda, where police have increased security measures.
Foundation Day of Dera Sacha Sauda
Upon his release from jail, Ram Rahim is allowed to hold a significant event on April 29 to mark the foundation day of Dera Sacha Sauda, prompting the government to increase security measures. However, the government has prohibited him from giving sermons.
Ram Rahim has been incarcerated since 2017, yet he has frequently received parole. He was granted a 30-day parole during the Delhi Assembly elections. Additionally, since 2020, Ram Rahim has been granted a total of 300 days of parole. He is typically given parole around the time of major elections. He also received parole during the Haryana Assembly elections.
Ram Rahim has been incarcerated in Sunaria jail in Rohtak, Haryana since 2017. In 2017, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a court for raping two female followers. However, in 2019, Ram Rahim received a life imprisonment sentence for the murder of a journalist. Following the sentencing, riots broke out, resulting in the deaths of 41 people and injuries to over 260 individuals.
