International Women's Day: 13 Women Receive 'Pride of the Nation' Awards
The 'Pride of the Nation Excellence Award Ceremony', hosted every year by 'Respect India' to mark International Women's Day, took place at the India International Center. Thirteen women were honored at this national-level event. The jury was led by K. J. Alphons, former Union Minister of Tourism, Government of India.
The 'Pride of the Nation Excellence Award' for remarkable contributions in education, art-culture, sports, administration, women's empowerment, medicine, law, and agriculture was given to Kenya High Commissioner Mary Mutuko, Cameroon High Commissioner Mapon Sylvie Mitchell Epps Tee Mambo, Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine Olena Ilchuk, Padma Shri Raj Kumari Devi (Kisan Chachi) (Women Entrepreneur), Prof. Raghubar Das, and Ms. Maiden. Recipients included Rajni Abbi (Politics), Kiran Chopra (Media), Tanvi Mopalwar (Young Entrepreneur), Dr. Gunjan Gupta (Medicine), Dr. Meenakshi (Education), Swaroopma Chaturvedi (Law), Laxmi Agarwal (Social Worker), Sagarika Banerjee (Arts), and Nasreen Shaikh (Sports).
The Chief Guest of the programme was Shri Giriraj Singh (Union Minister of Textiles), Chaired by Shri Balmiki Prasad Singh (Former Governor, Sikkim), Special Guest Padma Shri Dr. Yash Gulati, (Eminent Surgeon) Binod Kumar (ICAS), Rajesh Kumar (Senior Vice President, Reliance Industries), Dr. Nirmal Gehlot (Chairman, Respect India).
The Chief Guest, Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said in his statement that women empowerment has always been at the forefront of our DNA and more than 50 percent of women have been registered for start-ups. The Modi government is committed to women's development, security and opportunity. The role of women will be more constructive in the times to come.
Former Governor Shri B.P. Singh said that Indian women are creating history not only in the country but also abroad. Dr. Yash Gulati said that an alert and capable woman is the foundation of New India. Dr. Vinod Kumar said that women are the architects of civilization and culture. Dr. Nirmal Gehlot, President of Respect India, said that the equality and activism of women in the society is necessary for an ideal society.
The event was organised in association with 'Vikalp Aahar'. Team Anhad of Daulat Ram College presented a musical dance. Dancer Lavanya mesmerized with the enchanting performance of Kathak dance. Dr. Manish K. Chaudhary, General Secretary, Respect India thanked the guests.
