Haryana's Budget Session Scheduled from March 7-28, Budget Reveal on March 17
On Thursday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Haryana Assembly has set the schedule for the forthcoming budget session. The state's annual budget will be presented on March 17, with the session running from March 7 to March 28. The BAC meeting approved changes to the initially proposed schedule for the budget session.
During a press conference after the meeting, Saini announced, 'The Assembly session will commence tomorrow with the Governor's address. Currently, it is scheduled to continue until March 28, but it can be extended further if needed, as discussed in the BAC (Business Advisory Council) meeting. This is the government's first budget session, which was also a topic of today's BAC meeting. The budget will be presented on March 17.' The Haryana CM also mentioned that the government plans to introduce several important bills during the budget session.
CM Saini also criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the farmers' protest in Punjab, saying, 'In the past, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann would provoke the farmers. We advised him against this because we understand the farmers' struggles. As a farmer's son, I know the difficulties farmers endure. We had previously bought 14 crops at MSP and now we are buying 100% of crops at MSP. I had suggested to the Punjab government to engage with the farmers and give them assurances. Why aren't they purchasing the crops at MSP? I urge the Chief Minister of Punjab to support the farmers instead of using force against them,' he added.
Haryana Minister Anil Vij indicated that all parties agreed on the necessity of a new Assembly building due to the expected increase in the number of MLAs to 120 soon. We have chosen a site, and now the CM will discuss the cost with the Chandigarh administration. Everyone has consented to the need for a new Vidhan Sabha as the current one cannot accommodate the future rise to 120 MLAs.'
Another Haryana Minister, Mahipal Dhanda, stated, 'The budget session is going to start but The Leader of Opposition has not been selected yet because they either lack trust in their MLAs or don't have a suitable candidate. Earlier, CM Nayab Saini, who also manages the finance portfolio, participated in a two-day 'pre-budget consultation' meeting in Panchkula, which ended on Tuesday.
