Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann heads to Delhi for crucial talks with Kejriwal

Punjab CM Mann to discuss AAP's future with Kejriwal after Delhi election defeat

On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Man Singh departed for Delhi to hold a meeting with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal is set to meet with the Punjab Chief Minister and state MLAs in Delhi. This meeting has been scheduled following the AAP's significant loss in the Delhi Assembly elections.

The BJP secured a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, capturing 48 of the 70 seats. The AAP faced a significant defeat, managing to secure only 22 seats, a steep decline from their previous count of 62 seats in the 2020 elections. This historic win marks the BJP's return to power in the national capital after 27 years.

Despite its aspirations to regain power in the national capital, the Congress once again failed to secure a single seat without forming an alliance. The party, which governed Delhi for 15 years starting in 1998, has now gone three consecutive assembly elections without winning any seats.

In the Assembly elections, BJP's Parvesh Verma secured the New Delhi seat with a significant lead of more than 4,000 votes against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Following their loss in Delhi, Punjab remains the sole state governed by AAP, making it crucial for the party to maintain unity within its state unit. The BJP has asserted that the Punjab government might collapse soon.

On Monday, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh stated that the downfall of the AAP government in Punjab has commenced, describing the party's state unit as a 'house of cards' that will soon crumble.

The highly discussed Delhi model, which the Bhagwant Mann administration aimed to introduce in Punjab, has been entirely dismissed by Delhi.

BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal criticized Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, stating that the people of Delhi have 'punished' him for the current conditions and cautioned that Punjab is encountering a similar scenario.
