President Murmu takes holy dip at Triveni Sangam Maha Kumbh

Over 420 million devotees participate in Maha Kumbh 2025 so far

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh during the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025. After taking a holy bath, President Murmu offered prayers at the Triveni Sangam - the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. On his arrival in Prayagraj today, the President was received by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. "Uttar Pradesh Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed President Droupadi Murmu on her arrival at Prayagraj. After his arrival, President Murmu fed the migratory birds at the Triveni Sangam.

Meanwhile, this morning, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also took a holy dip in Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025 with his family. Speaking to the media, Dhami expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and described himself as fortunate to come here and take a holy dip.

He also reiterated that preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar are already underway. "People from all over the world are coming here to take a holy dip of faith. I consider myself lucky to be here. The 2027 Kumbh Mela will take place in Haridwar and we have started preparations for it," Thakur said. "

The Uttar Pradesh government said around 8.429 million devotees took the holy dip at Maha Kumbh 2025 on Sunday. So far, more than 420 million devotees have taken the holy dip in Maha Kumbh 2025. The Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is the world's largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting devotees from all over the world. The grand event will continue till Mahashivratri on February 26. The event has already attracted lakhs of devotees from across the country and the world and is expected to set new records of attendance and participation.
