Delhi records 57.70% voter turnout by 5 PM in Assembly Elections
The Election Commission of India (ECI) reported a 57.70 percent voter turnout by 5 pm on Wednesday during the single-phase Delhi Assembly elections. The northeast district of the national capital recorded the highest polling percentage at 63.83 percent.
The South-East district saw the lowest voter turnout at 53.77 percent, closely followed by the New Delhi district, which recorded 54.37 percent voting by 5 pm.
As per the ECI, by 5 pm, voter turnout was 58.86 per cent in South West district, 58.98 per cent in East, 57.24 per cent in North, 58.05 per cent in North West, 61.35 percent in Shahdara, 55.72 per cent in South, 55.24 per cent in Central, and 57.42 per cent in West.
The Election Commission reported a 46.55 percent voter turnout in the Delhi Assembly elections by 3 pm today. In contrast, the by-election in Milkipur Assembly constituency saw a 65.25 percent turnout. Meanwhile, the by-election in Tamil Nadu's Erode (East) constituency recorded a 64.02 percent voter turnout by 5 pm.
The voting for the by-elections to the 70-seat Delhi Assembly, as well as two seats in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, commenced at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Polling took place at all stations under stringent security measures. In the meantime, Delhi Police denied any allegations of voter bribery in the Sarai Kale Khan area within the Jangpura Assembly constituency.
