Dr. S Jaishankar Extends Greetings to Sri Lanka on Its Independence Day

Sri Lanka celebrates its Independence Day on February 4 every year to commemorate the country's political independence from British rule in 1948.  External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today greeted External Affairs Minister Wijitha Herath on Sri Lanka's Independence Day and reaffirmed India's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the country. Sharing a post on X, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar extended warm greetings to the government and people of Sri Lanka on its Independence Day, saying the government is committed to taking forward our multifaceted partnership that benefits our people.

Following Jaishankar's greetings, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister  Wijitha Herath said he looked forward to working closely with his Indian counterpart to further strengthen the cooperation and partnership between India and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's 77th Independence Day

On Sri Lanka's 77th Independence Day, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the crucial journey towards unity and independence. "I bow my head in honor of the fearless souls who put their lives on the line and sacrificed their lives for this momentous journey towards the dream of unity and independence," former president Mahinda Rajapaksa said. Wishing everyone a joyous celebration on Sri Lanka's 77th Independence Day.
