Uttarakhand becomes first state to implement Uniform Civil Code

Uttarakhand is set to become the first state to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) today (January 27). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that with the implementation of UCC, there will be uniformity in all laws related to personal citizen matters, which discriminate on the basis of caste, religion, gender etc. He said that all necessary preparations have been completed for the implementation of UCC, including approving the rules of the Act and training of the concerned officials.

"Dear people of the state, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will come into force in the state from January 27, 2025, making Uttarakhand the first state in independent India where this law will be implemented.

All necessary preparations have been completed for the implementation of UCC, including approval of the Act rules and training of relevant officials. UCC will bring uniformity in society and ensure equal rights and responsibilities for all citizens. The Uniform Civil Code is just an offering by our state in the 'mahayagna' being performed by the Prime Minister to make the country a developed, organized, harmonious and self-reliant nation.
