Tragic Road Accident on Delhi-Haridwar Highway Claims Four Lives

Four people were killed and one was seriously injured in a road accident on the Delhi-Haridwar highway in Haryana's Rewari district, police said on Saturday. The accident took place in the Bahadrabad police station area. The car of the passengers coming from Delhi collided with the truck parked on the roadside. The collision was so severe that two people died on the spot, while two people died in the hospital during treatment.

Officials identified the deceased as Kehar Singh, Aditya, Manish, and Prakash. While the injured Mahipal has been admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh.

The passengers involved in the accident were traveling from Rewari in Haryana and were heading towards Dehradun via Ibrahimpur, Chief Traffic Officer Natasha said. The driver, who was driving at a high speed, collided with a heavy vehicle near Ibrahimpur Cut, killing four people. One of the victims is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS.

Police, the transport department and national highway teams were carrying out technical inspection to ascertain the cause of the accident. The presence of an overspeeding warning board and reflectors has been detected at the spot. Officials speculate that the car, which was travelling at an excessive speed, possibly attempted to overtake another vehicle but collided with a heavy vehicle parked on the roadside, leading to the fatal incident.
