Mahakaleshwar Temple Sees Huge Turnout for New Year Prayers

The year 2025 has started off positively. On January 1, 2025, devotees are offering prayers to Baba Mahakal (Lord Shiva) at the Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Ujjain district, Madhya Pradesh. A significant number of worshippers have assembled to receive the blessings of Mahakal.

On January 1, 2025, devotees gathered at the Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain district, Madhya Pradesh, to worship and receive blessings from Baba Mahakal (Lord Shiva). Devotees also took part in the Bhasma Aarti held at the temple for the occasion.

A temple priest stated that a magnificent prayer ceremony was also held for the occasion. The famous Bhasma Aarti ritual takes place during the 'Brahma Muhurat' time frame, which lasts from 3:30 am to 5:30 am. It is thought that the desires of a devotee attending the Bhasma Aarti are granted.

"The Maha Puja took place here on New Year's Day, a celebration observed nationwide and at the Mahakaleshwar temple," priest Mahesh Sharma said.

According to tradition, Baba Mahakal received a sacred bath with panchamrit, which includes milk, curd, ghee, honey, and fruit juice. After the bath, Baba Mahakal was adorned, and a sacred aarti was performed. Then, devotees offered their prayers to Baba Mahakal.

"Today is a fortunate day, and we pray to Lord Mahakaleshwar to bring happiness and prosperity to everyone, to the country, and to bless all the devotees who visit here," he said.

Devotees also expressed happiness after worshiping Baba Mahakal. "I had an incredible experience, and if the year begins this way, I'm confident we will keep receiving the blessings of Baba Mahakal," said Ishika Taneja, a devotee.

Meanwhile, discussing the preparations, Superintendent of Police (SP, Ujjain) Pradeep Sharma informed ANI that adequate arrangements have been put in place for the convenience of the devotees visiting the area and also conveyed New Year greetings.

He stated, "We have assigned 1,100 police officers for security at this location. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can have the darshan of Baba Mahakal within 40 minutes, and we earnestly hope that with Baba Mahakal's blessings, we will achieve this. Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year. "
