Arvind Kejriwal Introduces Scheme for Priests at Hanuman Temple
Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi and the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), will inaugurate the scheme from Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place on Tuesday, accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal. Delhi CM Atishi will launch the scheme from the gurdwara in Karol Bagh.
Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal, unveiled the scheme at a Hanuman temple in Connaught Place. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi will attend the event and inaugurate the scheme at a Gurudwara in Karol Bagh.
He said, "Today, I along with my wife will launch the Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana from Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place. Atishi ji will launch this scheme from Gurudwara located in Karol Bagh. "
In a notable move ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, Kejriwal unveiled the Pujari, Granthi Samman scheme on Monday. He mentioned that temple priests and gurdwara 'granthis' will be given a monthly stipend of around Rs 18,000.
He announced that the plan will be put into action once the AAP government is established in Delhi following the upcoming elections. Kejriwal mentioned that this is occurring for the first time in the nation. Priests are a group that has been preserving traditions across generations. He neglected his family, and we, in turn, ignored him.
He also mentioned that priests assist us in various aspects of life. He said, "Whether it was the celebration of our child's birthday or the mourning of a loved one's passing, they have always connected us to God. However, he never prioritized his family, and we also neglected them. This is the first occurrence of this event in the country. We have undertaken numerous initiatives that were firsts in the national capital. We enhanced schools and hospitals and introduced bus travel facilities for women. I sincerely hope that both the BJP and Congress governments will take a lesson from this and introduce similar schemes in the states they govern."
