Delhi Police Deports Illegal Immigrants from Bangladesh
In response to increasing worries about the illegal migration of individuals, including those from Bangladesh, to the capital, Delhi Police has ramped up their efforts to identify, detain, and deport people residing without valid Indian documentation.
The police reported that eight Bangladeshi illegal immigrants were identified and deported to their country through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) during the operation.
The individuals from Bangladesh have been recognized as Jahangir, his spouse Parina Begum, and their six children. They were all residing in Rangpuri. As per the police, Jahangir admitted that he hails from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He traveled to India through forest trails and express trains, and has stayed in the country ever since.
After moving to Delhi, he went back to Bangladesh to fetch his wife Parina Begum and their six children. The police reported that they concealed their real identities and started living in the Rangpuri area of south-west Delhi.
While conducting the verification drive, the police grew suspicious of the individuals. Further questioning revealed that they were from Bangladesh and had destroyed their Bangladeshi identification documents.
The authorities confirmed that appropriate legal actions were taken after the verification and investigation outcomes. As part of the campaign, the Delhi Police have carried out several targeted operations and joint inspections in the South West district.
Dedicated teams made up of officers from local police stations and special units have been assigned to carry out thorough searches and collect intelligence to locate illegal immigrants. As part of the verification drive, officials conducted door-to-door checks, verifying approximately 400 families and collecting their documents.
The verification forms (Form-12) were dispatched to their respective addresses in West Bengal for validation. According to the police, a special team was assembled and sent to West Bengal to manually verify the suspects.
