Delhi AQI Drops to Moderate Level Following Heavy Rainfall

Delhi has been experiencing continuous rainfall. As a result, the air quality across the country has significantly improved over the past two days. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality index (AQI) in the national capital stood at 179 at 7 am on Saturday. An AQI between 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 satisfactory, 101-200 moderate, 201-300 poor, 301-400 very poor, and 401-500 severe.

Rain Improves Air Quality

On Friday, Delhi's air quality slipped from the 'severe' category to the 'poor' category. Today it has improved further and has come down to the "moderate" category. Meanwhile, Delhi recorded a temperature of 13.8 degrees Celsius at 5.30 a.m. on Saturday, according to the IMD.

Heavy Rain and Strong Wind

The minimum temperature is expected to drop to 12 degrees Celsius today, while the maximum temperature will reach 20.98 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity is 74%, plus winds will blow at a speed of 74 km/h. The sky is covered with clouds and it is raining, making the day pleasant. Sunrise occurred at 07:12 AM and Sunset will be at 05:32 PM. People were seen lighting bonfires to keep themselves warm as the mercury plummeted in the national capital. On Saturday morning, incessant rains continued in many parts of Delhi. Trees were uprooted in several areas of the national capital due to heavy rains and strong winds.

IMD Predicts Rain

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain and thundershowers in parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. These include Yamunanagar, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar and Hodal in Haryana; Saharanpur, Gangoh, Deoband, Muzaffarnagar, Sakouti Tanda, Baraut, Daurala, Baghpat, Meerut, Modinagar, Kithore and Nandgaon in Uttar Pradesh; and Tijara and Alwar in Rajasthan.
